Food for Thought
At some point in all of our lives we will be faced with a choice, one that with either action, could possibly have dire consequences for all involved. It is but a simple choice - a call to action, or to remain impassive - to not get involved.
I faced this choice myself last year, with a neighbour who was having severe withdrawals, going nuts and chasing everyone around in his ute. His poor wife was trapped in the local shop, where he was threatening to kill her and so forth. His three children, all under 2 where alone in their house.
There were no men around the town, as they all seemed to be away working, and the police where at least 15 - 20 mins away, so I and my neighbour chose to act.
The thing is though, it is in my nature to act. I am in no way fearless, just impulsive and rash I guess, but what of those who remain impassive? Who don't want to be involved, what fear causes the inaction? and how do they justify it to themselves when the worst comes from that inaction?
There was a young girl killed by a serial killer hereabouts, and a woman happened to see the man hitting the girl and knocking her to the ground, before abducting her. Would that girl still be alive today if that woman had yelled out at the man? Or would it have made little difference? What about the case of Kitty genovese, 37 people saw or heard her being attacked on the streets of queens in the 60's, but not one called the police, not one rushed down to help the young woman. She was found dead the next day.
What if we do act, but find that we are mistaken in our actions? That the screaming was just some kids mucking around, that that man dragging along a screaming child is really a father trying to calm that child's tantrum... how do you decide when to act, and when to remain impassive?
I suppose you are all wondering what brought on this macabre trail of thought - well I have been researching serial killers for a comic project that someday I will get around to scripting. Something for us to contemplate.
Again with the Floods
SO the river didn't peak on tuesday as expected, instead it will be peaking tomorrow and I shall be going to town to get some shots of it all.
Of course I won't be the only one out and about gawking at the river, it has become quite the attraction for locals, and everyone has been cruising down Quay street for a look. In fact people have been rubber necking while driving over the bridges, causing a few accidents, so I shall have to be careful not to do the same

SOCCER!!!!
YAY! soccer training has started up again, and while I am sooooo unfit at the moment, I am still enjoying it very much! we had training tuesday, and now my legs are a little sore, and I have training again tomorrow night... whhhheeeeeee!

happy! happy! happy!

and basically sat in a neighbours yard while he was being a twat and aiming the car at us and doing burnouts and stuff, then the cops came, he tried to ram them with his car, then took off. We then took that opportunity to jump the fence into his yard, and get inside with the poor babies, and lock the doors
The lady who was with me did bash his windscreen with a star picket though. She got mad cause he came within inches of hitting her with the ute, so she took of after him and WHAM!. I have to remember to not get on her bad side
