Try selling your images off as stock..
I've heard very good things about [link] ([link] pay-per-stock site). You also have [link], [link], [link], & [link]
I have a friend that sell's just 'average' everyday photos on gettyimages.. he's told me it took a while to get a 'fan base' kind of deal but after a while he draws in a income from it. Nothing to really do much more than buy that extra stuff one would want/need.

And I like to feature deviants who deserve a much larger following!

well that is true of any cameras and is not so much the camera per say...it is the laws of camera physics overall ...lol
That's what your ISO settings are for ( do you have those on the model you have now ?) which in the film days was the same thing as "the speed" of the film...
Typically the brighter things are you want to shoot in a lower ISO like 100
the darker it gets the more you want to push the ISO like into 400...you will still get grainy in less than optimal conditions but not as severe ...
( nowadays new cameras have ISO 's that run up to 1600 and beyond )
Before going all willy nilly every where else like getty ...( all those places pay shit royalities from what i have seen )..i would try offering exclusive stock right here at DA ...i mean dont make your entire stock here "pay-for" ...but find some elements textures things that are unique to your area that make good stock and make those the ones you have to pay a little for.
...stay cheap and make your money from many small sales .. over pricing can kill you here....but i think youll make more here than elsewhere to start.
Anyways...just like you shouldnt put all your Star Fleet Captains in one shuttle...you dont want this to be the ONLY place you sell your stock ...i was just saying that many of those places i looked at seemed a rip ...but i dont know for sure they all indeed suck..
This is a link to someone in my list that sells her stuff----> [link]
Snoop around and see what she's doing... and how she is set up ..it may start you up a bit faster... i see that now a lot of what she offers here is just a splash ad to buy it elsewhere...
Paypal ...is a good system to be able handle payments yourself without having to give part of your profits away to a site.
As FAR AS NEW CAMERAS..... i'm afraid i am not much help ...lol..if it was four years ago i'd be all over it ..but like anything else...technology progresses faster than i can ever keep up.
i rely on an old Cannon powershot G3 ... which at the time was the bees knees in it's class... Now i'm like you
i DID JUST come across a good article on thr very thing oyu are asking about ...like every camera nowadays is like 10 or more megapixels ...which is plenty for anything.
....so megapixels dont men much anyore when looking for a new camera.... and so it went on and on explaining what oyu should be focusing on ( not a pun )
trouble is ...i'm not sure where i saw it
Give me some time ...i'll find it...i see you arent buying one tomorrow anyway
btw ..i kept my red border

and thanks for the in depth answer I really appreciate it!
And I am definately gonna have to look into your suggestions. cheers!
